Daily Schedule

7:00 - 8:15 Arrival/Breakfast

The children arrive and are greeted by teacher. They may join in free play. Centers are open in all interest areas.

8:15 - 9:00 Centers/Diaper Changes

Centers remain open in all interest areas. The centers are selected by the classroom teacher based on the weekly theme and incorporated into the weekly lesson plan.

9:00 - 9:15 Group Story

Books are read aloud to the children at this time. The books are selected by the classroom teacher based on the weekly theme and incorporated into the weekly lesson plan.

9:15 - 9:30 Music and Movement

Songs and dance are done at this time. They are selected by the classroom teacher based on the weekly theme and incorporated into the weekly lesson plan.

9:30 - 9:45 Morning Snack

A nutritional morning snack is provided daily by the school. Snacks from home are welcome.

9:45 - 10:00 Teacher Directed Activity

An activity based on the theme in learning area of science, math, art, cooking, or literacy will be provided each day. This is an activity that may require direct teacher attention and supervision.

10:00 - 10:15 Sensory Centers

Three sensory centers provided daily. Hands on activities that encourage the children to "get messy". These centers are created based on the weekly theme.

10:15 -11:00 Centers/Diaper Changes

Centers re-open in all interest areas. The centers are selected by the classroom teacher based on the weekly theme and incorporated into the weekly lesson plan.

11:00 - 11:30 Outdoor Activities

11:30 - 12:00 Lunch

12:00 - 3:00 Nap/Diaper Changes

3:00 - 3:45 Centers/Teacher Directed Activity

Centers re-open in all interest areas. The centers are selected by the classroom teacher based on the weekly theme and incorporated into the weekly lesson plan. A second teacher directed activity is planned each day based on the theme.

3:45 - 4:00 Afternoon Snack

A nutritional afternoon snack is provided daily by the school. Snacks from home are welcome.

4:00 - 4:15 Music and Movement

Songs and dance revisited at this time. They are selected by the classroom teacher based on the weekly theme and incorporated into the weekly lesson plan.

4:15 - 5:15 Outdoor Activities

5:15 - 6:00 Centers/Departure

Centers re-open in all interest areas. The centers are selected by the classroom teacher based on the weekly theme and incorporated into the weekly lesson plan.

*Rotate materials about every 15 minutes.  Sing “clean up” and transition” songs as routines and may be repeated several times per day.  Songs during scheduled times should be posted on write-on, wipe-off board daily & on lesson plan.

ABC's For Children

  • You will receive a personal account to creative curriculum where you can access: checkpoints, observations, planning, emails and more
  • Each Parent receives an account with photo bucket to receive weekly photo albums uploaded to Photobucket of their child and their classroom
  • The following curriculum is offered the substantial portion of the day, which is 3 hours
    40 minute
  • 50% of materials rotated monthly
  • Sand & Water tables are offered daily

Early Literacy Examples (Daily)

  • Simple Rhymes & Interactive games
  • Reading a variety of books (wordless, picture, rhymes)


Early Mathematics Examples (Daily)

  • Language and materials challenge children to learn more & less/ big & small
  • See and touch different shapes, sizes, colors & patterns
  • Build number awareness using objects in the environment
  • Read books about counting and shapes


Science Examples (Daily)

  • Varied opportunities and materials using senses to learn about objects in the environment to discover that they can make things happen and solve simple problems.
  • Sensory Table: noodles, rice, corn meal, dirt
  • Sand Table
  • Water Table


Creative Expressions & Appreciation of the Arts Examples (Daily)

  • Varied opportunities for art, music, drama, and dance in a way that reflects cultural diversity


Arts

  • Varied opportunities to explore and manipulate age appropriate art materials ( 3 times weekly)

12-23 months *Requires close supervision (different experience each time)

  • Large Crayons

24-30 months

  • Water color markers
  • Tempra paints
  • Easy to use blunt scissors
  • Playdough & simple tools(rollers & utensils)
  • Large self stick stamps, stickers & tape

Social Studies Examples (Daily)

  • Children are provided varied learning opportunities that foster positive identity and an emerging sense of self and others.
  • Toddlers are offered opportunities to become part of the classroom community to feel accepted and gain a sense of belonging
  • Toddlers are provided varied opportunities and materials to build their understanding of diversity in culture, family structure, ability, age, and gender in a non-stereotypical ways.
  • Toddlers are provided opportunities and materials to explore social roles in the family and workplace through play
  • Toddlers are provided varied opportunities and materials to learn about the community in which they live
